Facebook
has separated its Messenger App from their Mobile App. Now, without logging
into your Facebook profile, you can just go straight and view your messages
through the Messenger App.
You can even allow notifications so you get to
know any minute a message drops and respond swiftly. It's simple and
straightforward. It feels like chatting on a regular social messenger app like
Whatsapp.
Even
if you don't want to download the App, Facebook has kind of made it compulsory
for those using the Facebook Mobile App.
When you click on the message tab, you
will be prompted to download the Messenger before you can view your messages.
The only way you can avoid downloading the app is if you only access your
account through a browser or Facebook Lite which is a basic version of the
Facebook Mobile App. Otherwise, you have to give it a try.

How to Download and Install Facebook Messenger.
§ VisitGoogle play store if you are using an Android mobile device.
§ Go
to search icon at the top and click on the search bar.
§ Type
Facebook Messenger on the search section and click on the Enter key.
§ Click
on the installation icon which is next to the app icon.
§ After
the Facebook messenger is downloaded and installed on your device, click open.
At
this stage, you need to launch the app:
§ Click
on the icon of the Facebook, messenger found on your homepage after
installation.
§ Enter
your email address. The email must be the one you used to sign up on Facebook.
§ Enter
your password. This is the same as your Facebook password.
§ Click
on the Next icon.
At
this stage, the Facebook messenger which is linked to your Facebook account is
launched and ready to use.
On the settings section, make sure you subscribe to the notification of messages on your device. By this, even when you are not on
Facebook and a friend sends you a message on your messenger, you will get
notified and can immediately access and reply to the sender.
Features of Facebook Messenger
Apart
from sending and receiving messages from friends, Facebook messenger which is
also known as the Facebook chat has some other interesting features. They are
highlighted below.
§ Known When Your Messages Have Been Read
Whenever
a message is sent to a friend, Facebook messenger has a mark on the bottom
right side of the message. Once the message has been read by your friend
automatically, the user’s
icon will drop on the message. The marked blue icon will go off.
§ Make HD Calls Anywhere in the World
With
the Facebook Messenger, users can make online calls. On the lower section of
the area where messages are typed, users will locate a “Call icon”.
The call can be audio calls or even video calls. Depending on how strong your
network connection is, the calls are usually clear because they are HD (High
Definition).
§ Snap Photo and Shoot Video
While
chatting or sending a message to a friend, you can decide to send them a
picture or video. This can be uploaded from your phone library, or recorded
live. The icon can as well be found just below the text section of the Facebook
messenger.
§ Select Stickers
While
sending a message using the Facebook messenger, you can decide to add some
color and fun to the conversation by adding stickers. There are stickers for
laughter, crying, surprises, anger, OMG and so on. These stickers make the
conversation a lot more interesting.
§ Group Chat
The
Facebook Messenger has a feature that allows users to create groups and add
people to those groups. Users can decide to chat with all the members of that
group at the same time.
§ Record Voice Messages
During
chats, if a user does not want some information to be sent in writing, they can
decide to record a voice note and send it along with the other written
messages.
§ Location on the Map
The
Facebook messenger also has the feature to reveal your location to the person
you are chatting with. To do so, click on the information icon at the top right
corner of your Facebook messenger. Click on a location to draw out the map of
your current location. This can be sent to the friend you are chatting with.
It
is important to note that to access this feature; The user must have enabled
the location feature on their phone settings.
